stsadm command giving Access Denied error

I issue a command on my machine to join to the farm :-

stsadm -o setconfigdb -connect -databaseserver MyDatabaseServerName -
databaseuser MyUserName -databasepassword mypassword -farmuser
MyFarmUser -farmpassword MyFarmPassword -databasename MyDatabaseName

and always get the "Access Denied" error and just that. No error in
the Eventlog as well.The authentication details are are all valid.

Please help.

Is the user you are using to join the machine to the farm has farm admin
rights? is also running the corresponding application pool? has dbowner
access on the SQL Server? just some of the checks I can think of.
